What is the difference between Ansys Academic Research CFD license and Ansys Academic Teaching CFD License in terms of cells and Nodes number? And how they differ from commercial license?

      Hi rksunny0,

There are no limitations for the Research licenses (this is the same as commercial licenses). You can see more details of academic licenses here (also for the Teaching licenses)

      https://www.ansys.com/-/media/ansys/corporate/files/pdf/product/academic/academic-products-features-table.pdf

You can't exactly compare license 'packages' (some folks may call this 'products') from one to another. If you want a good comparison, you have to go deeper and compare the license 'features' and what license 'capabilities' those license 'features' have.

The Academic Research CFD license 'package' has 2 license 'features' : aa_r_cfd and aa_mcad

Ansys Academic Teaching CFD license 'package' has 2 license 'features' : aa_t_cfd and aa_mcad

There are a few commercial CFD license 'packages' . The highest tier is called Ansys CFD Enterprise, which has license 'feature' acfd_3

aa_mcad has license 'capabilities' to import almost every CAD files that Ansys supports

For aa_r_cfd vs acfd_3 , there are lots of differences as well as common license capabilities in these two packages. I can't go into every single detail (license capability) because it will be way too long. Major differences are:

aa_r_cfd (in fact, all academic licenses do) has 16 built-in HPC licenses while acfd_3 (and most of commercial licenses) has only 4 built-in HPC licenses

aa_r_cfd has those license capabilities for Icepak (including Icepak solver) , Ansys Discovery , Ansys Chemkin, and Ansys Forte

acfd_3 has a license capability for Ansys Ensight

      Hope this helps.

      Thanks,

      Win
