Red surface is pretensioned. is it okay to set a frictional contact between the edge highlighted in green with that pretensioned surface? 

i am trying to figure out what to do with the bolt shaft and how it contacts the sheet metal holes. Can i run this without any contact?

2. sure, assuming there is another part in the model that is not shown in the above image, so no scope of rigid body motion.
