How can i access the directed energy deposition module?

If you are planning to perform a directed energy deposition analysis in Ansys Mechanical Workbench, you can do that by coupling a transient thermal and static structural analysis. This will only give us macro-level distortion and stress results which will be helpful to change the orientation or to prevent build failures. If you are looking for micro-analysis, you might have to consider using Mechanical APDL with your own subroutines. Here are some useful links -

November 15, 2021 at 7:18 pmAmaranthSubscriberHello, I am new to ansys and I am trying to simulate the DED of Ti64 on steel baseplate using ansys workbench. However, I am not sure on how to go about it .. I am using Ansys student 2021.. Hence I do not have a customer Id and cannot login to see the Answers posted by . Please let me know how to proceeed with this !

You can search the same, i.e., "Direct energy deposition process" in Ansys Help, which would be installed in your computer while installing the Ansys student 2021. You can search Ansys help in your start menu to find it. Those are the same links that I shared here.
