2-4 HOURS

NPTEL

This course covers the fundamental aspects of microwave technology, focusing on power dividers, directional couplers, and filters. For instance, students learn about the properties of T-junction and Wilkinson power dividers, including their lossless and resistive variants. The course also delves into the structure and function of directional couplers, explaining their key parameters such as coupling, directivity, isolation, and insertion loss. Furthermore, the course explores the design and application of microwave filters, discussing the characteristics of ideal filters, filter responses, and low-frequency filter synthesis techniques. Practical examples, such as the design of a Low Pass Butterworth Filter and a 2-hole directional coupler, are used to illustrate these concepts. The course concludes with a detailed analysis of the issues related to filter implementation at higher microwave frequencies.
