width=This course covers the comprehensive understanding of CMOS RF integrated circuits, with a special focus on low noise amplifiers (LNA). It starts with the basics of combined gain and noise figure in a system, moving on to the definition of noise figure and its relation to the amplifier and the source. The course further elaborates on the importance of designing a low noise amplifier and its strategic placement in a system. It also introduces the Friis equation and its significance. The course then transitions into the practical aspects of LNA design, discussing the role of MOSFET, computation of input impedance, and the impact of resistors and capacitors. It also explores various LNA topologies, noise cancellation techniques, and the impact of gate resistance on noise generation.

This course has been developed by Dr. Shouribrata Chatterjee from IIT Delhi for NPTEL. It is now accessible through Ansys Innovation Space courtesy of the partnership between Ansys and NPTEL, under the CC BY-SA license. For more details, visit https://nptel.ac.in/courses/117102012.
