NPTEL

width=This course covers the comprehensive understanding of Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM). It starts with the basic principles and techniques of DfAM, moving towards its application fields and steps involved. The course provides an in-depth understanding of design optimization, material selection, and considerations in DfAM. It further explores the application of DfAM in various sectors like lightweight structures, part consolidation, functional customization, personalization, and aesthetics. The course also introduces DfAM simulation software and the process of design optimization. It also discusses the importance of part decomposition in building a part, the different types of decomposition methods, and the cost comparison between different manufacturing methods. The course concludes with the concept of topology optimization in metal additive manufacturing, discussing various techniques and challenges faced in topology optimization.

This course has been developed by Prof. Janakranjan Ramkumar, Prof. Amandeep Singh Oberoi from IIT Kanpur for NPTEL. It is now accessible through Ansys Innovation Space courtesy of the partnership between Ansys and NPTEL, under the CC BY-SA license. For more details, visit https://nptel.ac.in/courses/112104312.
