Wireless Communication Standards Evolution

This course covers the comprehensive evolution of wireless communication systems, from the first generation to the current fifth generation. It provides an in-depth understanding of the development cycle of communication standards, the ITU-R recommendations, and a summary of GSM and IMT-2000. For instance, learners will explore the transition from analog to digital communication systems, the evolution of 2G, 3G, 4G, and the preliminary versions of 5G. The course also delves into the technical aspects of these systems, including their bandwidth, chip rate, frame length, modulation, and channel coding. It concludes with a detailed discussion on the requirements and performance of IMT-Advanced or 4G systems, cell spectral efficiency, and the transition from 4G to 5G.
