Vibration Analysis of Rectangular Plates

FREE

4-6 HOURS

NPTEL

width=This course covers the comprehensive study of the vibration of rectangular plates. It begins with the theory of thin plate vibration, discussing the assumptions, derivation of the equation of motion, and the significance of strain, stress, and deflection. The course further delves into the concept of eigenvalues and eigenfunctions, and their application in plate vibration. It also explains the orthogonality condition and the discretization of the equation of motion using the mode superposition technique. The course then moves on to the vibration of plates under different boundary conditions, such as when a plate is simply supported, clamped, or free. It also discusses the natural frequency and mood shapes of plates with Labis boundary conditions. Lastly, the course covers the vibration analysis of plates subjected to harmonic excitation and moving loads, providing a numerical example to illustrate these concepts.
