This course was developed for an application where a Thermode is used to heat and melt solder. The solder was assumed to be solid when no heat is supplied and once it melts and flows, it is assumed to be Newtonian.
While developed for a different application, this workshop showcases how to setup Ansys Fluent® fluid simulation software for a Conjugate Heat Transfer problem, Multiphase VOF, potential model with Joule heating, and the solidification / melting model.
Learning Outcomes:
Following completion of this course, you will be able to:
- Set up a multiphase VOF simulation in Ansys Fluent software.
- Setup the solidification and melting model and the potential model in Ansys Fluent software.
- Model and simulate thermode-like problems with solder flow within Ansys Fluent software.

- Ansys Fluent Meshing with Watertight Geometry Workflow.
- Ansys Fluent Multiphase Flow Modeling: Introduction and Volume of Fluid Model.
