This course covers the comprehensive process of RF transceiver design and testing. It begins with an exploration of system level considerations, emphasizing the role of link budget in determining loss, gain, and receiver sensitivity. For instance, the course illustrates how different components such as power, antenna, and connectors can impact the overall system. It also underscores the importance of maintaining a sufficient link margin in the design of a receiver or transmitter. The course then transitions into the realm of RF testing and measurement techniques. It provides an in-depth understanding of various simulation methods, EDA tools, and testing methods, including die test, bond wire plus PCB, and direct testing of PCB. The course concludes with a hands-on demonstration of testing an RF mixer, a crucial component in RF transceiver design. This course has been developed by Prof. Darshak Bhatt from IIT Roorkee for NPTEL. It is now accessible through Ansys Innovation Space courtesy of the partnership between Ansys and NPTEL, under the CC BY-SA license. For more details, visit https://nptel.ac.in/courses/108107379.
