Forced convection is a critical phenomenon in many engineering applications involving heat and mass transfer. The fluids are forced to flow through pipes and ducts to accomplish the desired transfer of thermal energy. For such applications the friction at the walls creates the pressure drop across the flow and the thermal convection governs the overall heat transfer. In this course, we will start with the analysis of velocity and thermal fields in internal flows. We will then investigate general heat transfer analysis in internal flows and discuss various laminar and turbulent pipe flow correlations. Lastly, we will introduce different types of heat exchangers and learn how to do design and performance analysis.
A course completion badge allows you to showcase your success. We partner with Credly’s Acclaim platform, and digital badges can be used in email signatures, digital resumes and social media sites. The digital image contains verified metadata that describes your participation in our course and the topics and skills that were covered. This badge is for successfully completing the How Heat Exchangers Work course.
