This course addresses the conversion of an existing explicit model to an implicit model within Ansys LS-DYNA® nonlinear dynamic structural simulation software. In detail, it focuses on how to set up non-linear implicit analyses in LS-DYNA starting out from explicit (crash-worthiness-type) models. It is a hands-on course with many workshop examples, ranging from the basic setup of linear stiffness analyses to more involved non-linear sub-system analyses. Practical troubleshooting tips and guidance on how to avoid many common pitfalls are also given.
Learning Outcomes:
Following completion of this course, you will be able to:
- Convert complex LS-DYNA models originally intended for explicit analyses to work also for implicit, quasi-static simulations.
- Select element formulations and material models suitable for implicit analyses.
- Define Mortar contacts.
- Set up analyses of a sequence of load steps.
- Tailor implicit solution settings for your particular application.
- Troubleshoot issues related to implicit convergence.
Prerequisites:
- Completion of Introduction to Ansys LS-DYNA Software course is recommended.
Please note: These training materials were developed and tested in the 2023R1 release.
