Flow and Blend Time Simulation in a Mixing Tank, Steady-State Flow Transient-Tracer Method

In this course, you will learn how to predict the blend time or mixing time of two materials in a mixing tank using Ansys Fluent® fluid simulation software. You will perform a steady state simulation of the underlying flow field while employing the Multiple Reference Frame (MRF) model, followed by a transient simulation of species transport for computing the blend time.
Learning Outcomes:
Following completion of this course, you will be able to:
- Prepare a mixing tank geometry for simulation, using Ansys Discovery™ 3D product simulation software.
- Create a numerical mesh using the Ansys Fluent Watertight Geometry Workflow.
- Set up and run a steady simulation for the underlying flow field, using the MRF Frame motion for the impeller domains.
- Set up and run a transient simulation of a species for estimating the blending time.
- Create animations for visualizing the mixing process of the tracer.
Prerequisites:
- Completion of Ansys Fluent Getting Started: Basics.
