NPTEL

width=This course covers the comprehensive understanding of small and large deflection theories in the context of Euler columns. It provides a detailed explanation of how to derive the critical load of an Euler column considering both theories. The course also delves into the concept of curvature, its expression in terms of slope and deflection, and the development of the governing differential equation. It further discusses the behavior of imperfect columns, the derivation of critical load for initially bent and eccentrically loaded columns, and the analysis of beams subjected to both axial and transverse loads. The course concludes with the stability analysis of a beam column using Raleigh's method and the derivation of the equation of the elastic curve when a beam is subjected to axial load along with transverse load.
