This course covers the comprehensive understanding of RF transceiver design and the basics of wireless communication. It starts with the fundamentals of RF transceiver design, its impact on various applications like 5G mobile communication, vehicular radar, IoT, satellite communication, and defense. The course then delves into the electromagnetic wave spectrum, microwave theory, communication theory, and wireless standards. It further discusses the challenges in RFIC circuits design and the RFIC design flow. The course also explores different modulation schemes, the concept of Inter Symbol Interference (ISI), and Nyquist signaling. It concludes with the fundamentals of digital modulation schemes, multipath fading, Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM), mobile RF communication, frequency reuse, diversity techniques, multiple access techniques, and wireless standards. This course has been developed by Prof. Darshak Bhatt from IIT Roorkee for NPTEL. It is now accessible through Ansys Innovation Space courtesy of the partnership between Ansys and NPTEL, under the CC BY-SA license. For more details, visit https://nptel.ac.in/courses/108107379.
