This tutorial gives a description of how the Ansys Motor-CAD® dedicated electric motor design tool for multiphysics simulation to Simscape export works. The main purpose is to show how to extract the data from Ansys Motor-CAD through the Saturation and Loss Map Tool and then implement them in a Simscape block. The Simscape FEM Parameterized motor model is a permanent magnet synchronous machine (PMSM) model that is defined in terms of magnetic flux linkage and allows a machine model to be included in a larger system level simulation.
An Ansys Motor-CAD/Simscape example is presented to show how to extract the flux linkage data and the other parameters from Ansys Motor-CAD. The nonlinear back EMF characteristics of a PMSM machine can then be modelled in Simscape.
This tutorial will describe the export of a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) from Ansys Motor-CAD to Simscape.
