Workbench launches Mechanical editor on my machine in background using preppost license to mesh and generates input file for MAPDL solver, but the license was not returned before the solving started, so during the solving, 2 licenses (preppost on client machine, ansys on compute server) were checked out. Then the job finished and returned solver (ansys) license, Workbench got the results back and post processed before it returned the preppost license.

      To return the preppost license everytime, there is a setting in Workbench 19.x > Tools > Options > Mechanical > Release License for Pending Jobs. The default value is “On Demand” which enables the above licensing behavior.  Change it to “Always” and it will return the license.
