We have an exciting announcement about badges coming in May 2025. Until then, we will temporarily stop issuing new badges for course completions and certifications. However, all completions will be recorded and fulfilled after May 2025.

Why is the actual coarsening rate so high and the number of radiation elements so low if I am using a discrete transfer radiation model with surface to surface option in ANSYS CFX?

The coarsening rate has no actual meaning when using discrete transfer radiation model without participating media, since no coarsening is applied. When using the surface to surface option, the solver essentially reduces the volume mesh to a “single cell” or a small number of cells. This is why the coarsening rate is so high and the number of radiation elements (“volume cells”) is so low.
