Why do the ANSYS nCode DesignLife strain-life results differ from the eFatigue results?

      ANSYS nCode DesignLife uses the strain tensor to calculate the fatigue damage. eFatigue uses the stress tensor instead. Furthermore, DesignLife obtains the maximum principal strain from the strain tensor, while eFatigue obtains the maximum principal strain by dividing the maximum principal stress by the modulus of elasticity. The values are not identical, so the calculated fatigue damage will also be different. We believe that the DesignLife approach, using the full strain tensor, is more accurate.
