Ansys EnSight starts at least one server process for each loaded case. These server processes need to communicate for mapping data from one case to another. If this communication is prevented, Ansys EnSight freezes until the processes can either establish a communication channel or the connection times out (which can take very long). There are two main error sources: 1. The server processes communicate with their hostnames. If this is not possible the connection fails. Some VPN configurations can be the source of this type of communication failure. 2. The server processes must be able to send and receive TCP connections. If a firewall blocks this communication path by default, an exception needs to be added. The executables that spawn the processes that need to talk with each other are deep within the EnSight installation folder. The default path for 2022 R1 on Windows is: C:program filesansys incv221ceiensight221machineswin64ens221combo.exe
