What type of contact detection method should be used for symmetric contact with Archard wear model?

      The Archard wear model uses only the nodal based contact detection methods. Any nodal based contact model may be used with asymmetric contact. In case of symmetric contact, Archard wear model is not recommended but it is not blocked. In case of symmetric contact when both sides of the contact are prone to wear, only the Nodal Projected from Normal contact detection method (known as mortar contact) passes the patch test for contact and is the only recommended contact detection method for symmetric contact. For all the other detection methods, contact element does not pass the patch test and are not recommended.
