What are the options to constrain the mesh morphing when using the Design Tool of the ANSYS Fluent Adjoint Solver?

Depending on what you are trying to constrain, there are different locations in the Adjoint Design Tool that you can adjust. The easiest way to exclude fixed regions from mesh morphing is to make the morphing region small enough. This is specified on the ‘Region’ tab of the Design Tool. For fixed walls inside the morphing region, you can simply deselect them on the ‘Design Change’ tab. When you want to restrict the motion in certain directions, you can modify symmetry and motion parame-ters on the ‘Region Conditions’ tab. These are only available for the polynomials-based mesh morphing approach. For more complex constraints, use the options that are available on the ‘Design Conditions’ tab. These include fixing a sub-region of a wall zone, bounding planes and surfaces, prescribed deformation pro-files, rotation, translation and scaling constraints and a rigid-body deformation. The options are discussed in more detail in the attached.
