FAQ
ParticipantThere are 2 types of license for Discovery products:
- Subscription
- Enterprise
When Discovery products installer is downloaded from Discovery forum, during its installation there is an option to select the type of license to be used. Alternatively, the license type can also be changed later on from Discovery License Mode Manager available under the Windows Start menu.
When Discovery products are installed from ANSYS Workbench installer (available on ANSYS Customer Portal), there is no option to select the type of license to be used. Also, the Discovery License Mode manager is not available under Windows Start menu. This installation takes floating license as default license type. So if you have subscription license, you will get an error like the one mentioned below:
Capability ANSYS Discovery Live does not exist in the ANSYS licensing pool.
None of the products enabling this capability are available in the specified license path.
To overcome this issue, please follow below steps for changing the license type:
- Go to C:Program FilesANSYS Incv193scdm
- Create a blank text file named Discovery.txt in above location. You may need admin rights to create a file in this directory.
- Once the file is created, search “LicenseModeGUI.exe” in the same directory and launch it.
- This will open the Discovery License Mode Manager and you can change the license type to be used.
