Should I use von Mises for fatigue analysis?

      Generally, it is not recommended to use von Mises stress for fatigue analysis because it only takes positive values and doesn’t account for any compressive mean stresses. Instead, you may use components stress such as max principal stress and signed von Mises for fatigue analysis.
