That ScaFTen and PTT models produce different results is rather normal to me. It is probably fair to say that they are equivalent in the sense of a first order approximation, i.e. for slow kinematics, the predictions should not differ too much from each other. But beyond that, a departure of ScaFTen from PTT is nearly normal. In ScaFTen, one has actually one scalar quantity that is expected to generate the swelling via a normal stress. In particular the scalar variable obeys a transport equation whose source term involves the local kinematics. Elongational effects may thus develop differently as with PTT model (where things are described with a tensor).
