In a StrainLife (EN) fatigue analysis using ANSYS nCode DesignLife, is it possible to use elastic-plastic strains calculated directly in the finite element (FE) analysis?

Yes, but you must take the following actions. 1. You must run a FE analysis using elastic-plastic material properties. 2. You must instruct DesignLife to import the full stress-strain field (both stress and strain results) from the results file. By default DesignLife only imports the elastic stresses. It then calculates the plastic strains using an elastic-plastic correction. 3. You must deactivate the elastic-plastic correction. By default DesignLife invokes the elastic-plastic correction.
