We have an exciting announcement about badges coming in May 2025. Until then, we will temporarily stop issuing new badges for course completions and certifications. However, all completions will be recorded and fulfilled after May 2025.

How to ensure that the Design Change in an Adjoint Solver optimization can move the nodes on a symmetry boundary condition?

In the Design Tool the region for the Design Change is defined by a Bounding Box. Only nodes within the bounding box are moved based on the Adjoint Solver results. So in case a symmetric case is optimized with a symmetry boundary condition, it should be ensured that the bounding box is extending (at leat slightly) outside the symmetry boundary condition. If the bounding box extends exactly to the symmetry plane, it might happen that the nodes are calculated as being outside the bounding box and hence will not be moved.
