It is possible to save pictures every few iterations/time steps by using “execute commands” and create a video after simulation. The execute commands will include a series of TUI commands that will be required to execute the step of displaying the correct plot on the graphics screen, orienting it in the desired fashion, and then saving it with a file name. These TUI commands need to be first decided and then stored in the ‘Execute Commands’ panel under ‘Calculation Activities’. Alternatively, one can also use the “Solution Animations” option, which saves a series of frame files at the desired frequency and then allows the user to stitch them into a video. The benefit of this approach is that the user can adjust the viewing orientation of the display prior to processing the video. Additionally the files saved are relatively smaller in size compared to saving the data files. However these files are larger than saving the pictures as with the Execute Commands option described above. Also, the Solution Animation settings are not saved in the Case File and they have to be re-done everytime a new Fluent session is launched. Overall both approaches save a lot of disc space as the data or cdat files no longer need to be saved every few iterations/time steps and are generally preferable if the end goal is to simply create an animation.
