The procedure to calculate the B-field average value in 2D cylindrical symmetry models (in both Magneto-static and Transient solver) needs the help of the Field Calculator, which can be found under Maxwell2D –> Fields –> Calculator. The steps to be accomplished are the following: 1)Select the desired field quantity (B-field): Fig_1.png 2)Go to the 4th column (Vector), select Scal? and choose ScalZ: Fig_2.png 3)Go to the 1st column (Input), click on Geometry, check Surface and select the desired object (in the following figure the selected object is named “Core”): Fig_3.png 4)Go to the 3rd column, select Integral and choose XY: Fig_4.png 5)At this step the expression in the Field Calculator stack should be the following: Scl: Integrate(Surface(Core),ScalarZ()) 6)Now, under the 1st column, go to Number, check Scalar and type 1 in the Value field: Fig_5.png 7)Repeat exactly steps 3 )and 4), in order to get the following expression: Scl: Integrate(Surface(Core),1) 8)Click the / (divide) button Fig_6.png in order to reproduce the following formula: Fig_7.png 9)Click the Add button to create a new Field Variable and assign it a name like e.g. Bavg: Fig_8.png 10)The new variable named Bavg is now available for post processing under Results –> Create Fields Report.
