FAQ
Participant1. Missing Environment Variable: The Env Var that gets created by FloatingLicenseConfig.exe is called SPACECLAIM_LICENSE_FILE located in Windows Environment Variables (System > About> System Info > Advanced System Settings > Environment Variables. An Environment variable is essentially a flag that tells your computer/SpaceClaim to look for a floating license server. Variable name: SPACECLAIM_LICENSE_FILE, variable value: 27581@”server name.” The 27581 is the port # being used in the license sc.lic used by lmgrd.exe. The entity after the @ sign can be the server name or server IP address (more common). Common issue: When switching from FLT license to a standalone node locked, make sure environment variable is turned off/deleted. 2. Invalid License 3. Firewall Settings: Firewalls in place almost guarantee that it is blocking the ports SpaceClaim needs in order to grab a license. Ports found in lic.log. lmgrd tcp port 27581, SPACECLM TCP port 12345. Both of these ports need to be unblocked in the firewall. To unblock, go to Control Panel >System and security > Windows Firewalls > Allowed programs and select “Allow another program,” browse to the SpaceClaimFlexServer folder and select SPACECLM.exe. Repeat the process for lmgrd. Then select “Advance settings” from windows firewall screen. Select “inbound rules” – select DEMO Daemon – select properties. Select the Protocols and Ports tab and enter the port # from the SPACECLM.exe (12345 in this example) seen in your log file. Repeat the process for lmgrd.exe (this should have 27581). Now try launching SpaceClaim again. 4. Port #s Changing: Go into license file sc.lic and set the port #. Make sure port #s in the sc.lic match those in the log file. DEMO Daemon properties process (above). 5. Misc Network Errors: Connecting to internet through a proxy – never works with flex licensing, SpaceClaim doesn’t support it.
