Accurate calculation of heat transfer coefficient (HTC) during conjugate heat transfer (CHT) modeling in CFD post

CFX / Fluent calculates heat transfer coefficient (HTC) at the wall using the fluid temperature at the first node / first cell from the wall as an approximation of the free stream temperature outside the thermal boundary layer. As the first node / cell from the wall may not be outside the thermal boundary layer, this method over-estimates the HTC. A more accurate method is presented in this material. Please refer to the attachment for details. Keywords: heat transfer coefficient (HTC), conjugate heat transfer (CHT), wall adjacent temperature
