For 17.1, 17.2, 18.0, and 18.1, section 5.13 Interphase Mass Transfer of the CFX Theory Guide incorrectly states that the default interfacial area density for Interphase Mass Transfer is unclipped. The documentation in 18.2 has been fixed so it now correctly states that the default interfacial area density for Interphase Mass Transfer is clipped. More on the history of this setting: – In 15.0, the default interfacial area density for Interphase Mass Transfer was clipped interfacial area density and the documentation correctly reflected this. – In 16.0, and 17.0, the default interfacial area density for Interphase Mass Transfer was changed to unclipped interfacial area density and the documentation correctly reflected this. This change was done because it greatly improve the behaviour of boiling models since it removed the unphysical condensation of non-existent vapour in subcooled liquid. – In 17.1, the default interfacial area density for Interphase Mass Transfer was changed back to the clipped interfacial area density, but the documentation in Section 5.13 was not changed back. The default was changed back to clipped because it was discovered that some non-boiling cases were less robust. The unclipped behaviour can be restored by setting the expert parameter: ‘ipmt area density clip = f’ – in 18.2, the documentation in Section 5.13 now correctly states the interfacial area density for Interphase Mass Transfer is clipped.
