If DPM is run in conjunction with the VOF model and it is desirable to capture the particles hitting the phase interface or the free-surface, a user-defined function (UDF) based treatment must be employed. The attached solution documents present a UDF where the particles are trapped at the instant they hit or try to penetrate the interface. A more advanced treatment can be built upon this which may also account for surface tension effects, angles between particle velocity and interface normal, particle momentum etc.
