Guidelines on Posting Questions on Ansys Discovery Community Forum

      • All Discovery users and forum participants are requested to go through guidelines outlined below:
        • Search for Answers to your Questions on the Forum
        • Posting Questions on the Forum
        • Posting Replies to Questions
      • These guidelines will ensure consistent process for posting questions on forum for all Discovery users and forum participants, and also provide effective utilization of knowledge available within forum

      Search for Answers to your Questions on the Forum:

      • Before posting any question on the forum, all Discovery users and forum participants are requested to use the Search bar shown below to search any existing post (questions, replies, knowledge articles) related to your problem

      • If you find any relevant post on forum, please ensure to click the “LIKE” button which conveys that this post was helpful to you

      Posting Questions on the Forum:

      • In case you don’t find any post which addresses your problem, post a new question by clicking the “Request Support” tile.

      • You can ask a question using the sidebar button from any topic.

      • On New Post page, enter Title and Description of problem or information you are looking for
        • Provide as much detail about the question being asked. Below mentioned sample question can serve as a good reference on how to provide detailed Title and Description about a problem:
          Title: Geometry suppression in AIM after transfer from Live
          Description: Take the internal flow example in Live and transfer to AIM. A fluids system is automatically created. My question is how to suppress the solid so I can perform just a CFD analysis as there is no configuration step inserted between geometry and meshing?
        • Wherever possible, share a snapshot and/or model which are “generic” in nature since it will be accessible by all forum participants:

      •  Add appropriate tags (like Discovery Live, Fluids, etc.) from the available list. These tags will help in grouping of questions based on tags and will further assist users to search for information on similar topics.

      • Once all information is filled out, Post the question in forum
      • No proprietary or ITAR data should be posted on forum. There is a separate process  for requesting proprietary model support.
      • Also, check out the following link which describes the process for participating in forum in languages other than English
      • Be sure that your email notifications are turned on (“Avatar > Email Notifications”), so you will be notified when someone responds to your question.

      Posting Replies to Questions:

      • When posting a reply, use the @ symbol to mention the support engineer.  This will provide an additional notification to the support team that there has been a response.
      • Once the question is answered by Support engineer or other forum users, the Support engineer will review it and mark the question as “Answered”, as shown below

      • All “Answered” questions will be closed, meaning that users will not be able to post any reply to that question
        • You can post replies to questions which are not marked as “Answered”
        • If a question you posted on the forum was prematurely marked as “Answered” and closed, you can submit a separate new question
        • If you wish to report a similar issue to an “Answered” post, you can post a new question and reference the original post with its link (URL).
