Why is my workbench watertight meshing dying with no warning?

I have a workbench project that has just 2 modules: geometry and fluent meshing/solve. I use fluent watertight meshing to mesh my model. I created a preliminary mesh that is about 10M cells and it goes through my workflow completely just fine.

I want to update area of the mesh so I then edit the mesh module by opening the watertight meshing module through workbench. I add a local sizing that I know is going to refine some areas of my mesh and therefore make the cell count larger but it is still within the constraints of my machine. I am using my company's virtual machine that has 128 GB RAM to mesh.

For some reason, fluent then closes completely when surface mesh generation exceeds 75% completion (when it enters the remeshing stage). Like i said, it is not because of insufficient memory as it doesnt say that in the fluent output window. Actually fluent gives no indication of why it stopped meshing and closed. The fluent-error txt file just says abnormal exit.

BUT the mesh finishes to completion if I mesh independently of workbench and the resulting volume mesh only has about 25M cells. but then I cant use the benefits of workbench on my project

TLDR Fluent watertight meshing closes during surface mesh generation with no indications why if I try to make edits to the watertight meshing portion of my workbench project but meshes just fine if I do not use workbench

2022 is on my company's virtual machine. Why would that matter?

There are many bug fixed in latest version. So it may help.

      Other than that
