Hi all,
I am doing MOGA optmization based on data from response surfaces. When I try to input parameters to be optimized, I am confused by the input "Target" after I specifying maximize/minimize for my parameter.Â
Why it asks me to specify target and the default value is 0? I have tested that change in Target with max/minimize and it gives different candidate points. I thought Target here is just for "Seek Target" option.
Best,
Eric

Hi
Say we want to minimize the mass and want it to be close to 2.5 kg, then we set Target to 2.5.
Â
Hope this illustrates what it is.

All the best

Hi Erik,
Thanks for the quick response. Could you help me address the following concerns/comments based on your response?
- If you need to specify Target when you want to minimize the mass, you do not know the expected value. The change in Target will influence your candidate points. How do you know what Target is a good estimate?
- Can you choose not to specify the Target and just let MOGA minimize your mass?
- If we need to specify a Target for max/minimize an object, then what is the difference here say if you maximize mass to 5kg or minimize mass to 5kg. It sounds to me that they both try to seek a target around 5kg instead of max/minimize mass.
- Target here is not strictly constrained unlike specifying bounds in constraint settings.
Thank you!
Eric
