SubscriberDepends on how much self contact will be present. If just a few surfaces need to be put in a contact definition, then Transient Analysis may be superior. If a large number of surfaces will deform and create self contact, Explicit Dynamics automatically detects self contact so you don't have to predict where the contact will occur. For example, if the item has a hard external shell and the product will bounce off the floor, then Transient Analysis would work well. If the item has a crushable zone, then Explicit Dynamics would be better because automatic element erosion can allow crushing of material in the crush/crumple zone.
