I want to import an STL file (already composed of meshes) like the above in SpaceClaim, simplify the model through Shrinkwrap, and then perform an analysis.
However, when performing an analysis, the following error occurs and the analysis does not proceed.
The mesh generation did not complete due to poor quality elements or incorrect input. Please try meshing with another mesh method or different mesh options.
I think it is probably trying to re-mesh the model as a solid and failing.
How can I use the mesh of an STL file as is (as shell elements) rather than remeshing it?

Hi
See this video -
1. make a good solid (as they do on the video:
.):Â
2. select all outer faces, press ctrl+c (copy) and then followed by ctrl+v (paste), and shell/surfaces/faces will be created based on the outer face selection.
3. You can then use shared topology to connect the shell/surface/face edges:

4. Suppress then the 3D volume part (created in step 1) and use only these new created surfaces/faces.
All the best
Erik
