What ports need to be open in an on-premises environment?

      / Question

What ports need to be open in an on-premises environment? And what needs to happen if a user is working from home?

      / Answer

Users connect to VMs deployed via Ansys Access using RDP and SSH. Therefore, the following ports must be allowed to communicate between on-premises and the customer's Azure environment where the VM is deployed.  The same conditions apply when connecting from home.

      • Ports
        • 443 (for Windows VMs)

        • 22 (for Linux VMs)

When a VM is deployed, access to the VM's public IP is not allowed. Once the connect button is clicked a security rule is added in the instance NSG rules to allow ALL traffic from your local machine.
