Ansys EmployeeHi @prajput  if the stress state at a material particle is such that the only non-zero stress components act in one plane, then the particle is said to be in plane stress. This option assumes that there is zero stress and non-zero strain in perpendicular direction.

Ansys EmployeeHi @skadam - When can we set 2D behavior as plane stress for a shell body?

Ansys EmployeeHey @prajput , you can use this behavior when the dimension in the Z direction is very small compared to X and Y dimensions for a body. When you have flat plates with in-plane loading, or thin disks under pressure or centrifugal loading, you can use plane stress behavior.
I hope this helps!!!
