Ansys EmployeeHello User,
To create an accurate corrugated plate mesh in Ansys LS-PrePost, it is essential to establish both horizontal and vertical mesh lines, resulting in a grid of shell elements. Relying solely on three lines in the 2D mesh and generating shells from them does not yield a satisfactory mesh, as this approach typically produces elements only along those lines and lacks the necessary connectivity for a plate structure.
Recommended Methods for Shell Element Generation in LS-PrePost
2D Mesh Sketch board: Utilize the 2D mesh sketch board to outline the corrugated plate, then employ automatic surface meshing. This process generates both horizontal and vertical mesh lines, forming a comprehensive grid of shell elements appropriate for structural analysis.
nLine Meshing: Define multiple lines in both the horizontal and vertical directions and apply the nLine meshing tool to create a mesh grid. This technique is particularly effective for regular plate geometries and ensures full connectivity across both axes.
Line Sweep into Shell: For corrugated or extruded configurations, discretize a cross-sectional curve and sweep it along a path line. This method produces a surface mesh that adheres to the corrugated geometry, allowing control over the segmentation along both the sweep direction and the cross-section for refined meshing.
Mesh AutoM Size: To generate uniform quadrilateral shell meshes, leverage the Mesh AutoM Size function in LS-PrePost. This tool automates the creation of a grid mesh with consistent element dimensions, making it well-suited for plates and container surfaces.
Let us know how this goes.
