SubscriberHello,
We are trying to track a single particle in Fluent postprocessing (or through report outputs, etc.). When I try to display a single particle track in Fluent post processing, nothing shows up, or many particles show up for one particle ID (i.e. when I put ID 1.. nothing happens, but when I put ID 10, many tracks show up). I am curious why this is or if single particle tracking isn't compatible with the false 'injection' from VOF to DPM and only with true injections. Is there a way to track the path/residence time throughout the simulation for VOF to DPM particles? We have an output file currently that has the 'residence time' for each particle but it does not update as the model progresses and is only written once. We were hoping for something more continuous.
Thanks,
Alex

Ansys EmployeePerhaps better to use the filter function to just show the particle track(s) you want to to show based on the particle ID or any other particle variable. With VOF-to-DPM you have access to the particle residence time which nothing else rather than Flow-Time - Birth Time of particles.

SubscriberThank you. The filter function worked better. Just to clarify: when doing a current time output report for VOF to DPM the 'residence time' column is the time of birth? So to get the actual residence time just use the current time - residence time column.
Thanks Alex

Ansys EmployeeThat column should be equal to zero if that from voftodpm transcript file. Just check the Customization manual when it talks about dpm output udf ƒÿÇ

Ansys EmployeeWelcome. do you have any published papers where you are deploying the model transition techniques?
