Hello,
I have a question about the Reaction Probe feature in the results obtained when setting 'Nodal Forces' to 'Yes' in the Transient Thermal module.
I am currently simulating a shell multilayer structure with several thin layers subjected to cyclic thermal loading.
When checking the Reaction Probe results for each layer's surface, the unit is displayed in watts (W), and the values oscillate between positive and negative.
I believe these fluctuating values are due to the cyclic thermal loading.
However, I couldn't find much information on Reaction Probe or heat reaction.
Could you explain what this feature represents, the meaning of the results, and how to interpret the values and their signs?
If there are any related materials, I'd appreciate it if you could share them.

Hi Jiwon, reaction probes, in general, give nodal reactions. Below is a snip from the help documenation for heat reaction probe. The sign indicates whether the heat is flowing into or out of the body. For example if you apply a +10W heat load (heat flowing into structure) then you would expect a -10W reaction (heat flowing into the sink) in a steady state analysis.
