Unable to attach to geometry file error

      Hi,

I have a problem during 2d analysis geometry preparation.

      Done steps:

1- I selected analysis type as showed photo at below.

2- I imported geometry and geometry type is STEP.

3-I opened DESIGN MODELER to create 2D geometry from 3D geometry with MidSurface as showed photo at below.

Also, I tried that  selection method of MidSurface is altered from Manual to Automatic.

4- Then, I opened the mechanical and then I got these errors that are showed as photos at below.

I do not know that my wrongs or these errors occur. Is there anybody who can help me about these errors.

      Thanks for responds.

Can you check if z=0 and if not use the Move command to fix that.

Hi In project window set analysis type to 2D

Once Mechanical has attempted an Attach to 3D geometry, you cannot later change the Workbench Geometry Properties from 3D to 2D. If you try, you will get an error message.

Start a new Static Structural analysis in Workbench, click on the Geometry cell and in the Properties window, set the Analysis Type to 2D.  Then import the file you have created already with a surface in the XY plane at Z=0.

      Hi everyone,

I do having similar problem and yet I do not have solution on hand. It is my MSc Thesis in CFD simulation, I created my geometry on Ansys workbench and when wanted to mesh I got a :"plugin error: Attach failed" Failed to import assembly from SpacecClaim. No body to transfer.

If I used student Ansys fluent version, it is working fine to the simulation but student version has some limitations in number of meshes that why I want to use this Academic one. Please can any one help me?

      Hello Kassim,

Did you use the geometry made in student, and importing it in academic version? What format are you importing? Which version of Ansys product are you using?

I would recommend to start a new post, rather than following up with old discussions.

      Regards,

      Nanda.

      Hi Nanda,

No I created my geometry by using academic version and I prefer to mesh and solve in the same academic version.

      Hello Kassim,

Can you try resetting app data and let us know if that didn't help.

      1. Go to the Start Menu and open %temp% folder. Search for ‘.ansys’ folder and rename it to ‘.ansys.old’ then launch the application.
      2. Open a file explorer and type %appdata% in the address bar.

Locate the Ansys folder --> select version (V231) and rename it to V231.old

I have seen users/students reporting similar behavior when they make some changes to geometry after initial import. Is it the same case for you or the initial import itself creates this issue?

      Best,

      Nanda

      Hi Nanda,

I shall do right now and give you an immediate results.

Is not same case to me, because mine is an initial import, I did not make any changes to my geomtery.

      Best regards

      Hi Nanda,

I checked at start menu, I can not find the folder named %temp%. May be because I am not an administrator?

      Best regards

Look under %AppData% (yes A and D must be big). There should be a folder Ansys in there. Open this folder and then see a folder named v221 or whatever version number you are using. Delete or rename this directory.

Another thing. Are you using the same version from the student model to the academic? You cannot (easily) go backwards.

      Dear all,

My problem is resolved, the issue was on suppresion for physics or activate, I suppresed wrong object instead of solid. Thank you everyone for your support, now it is working fine.

      Best regards

      Kassim
