Transient Analysis Residual Vibration

      Hello everyone,

I'm a new Ansys user. I'm trying to perform a Transient Analysis to observe the residual vibrations in a flexible object after it has been moved. I constrained the two faces in which the object was locked to make the motion and then I added a displacement, but the simulation shows that no deformation occurs. Can anyone help me understand the problem?

      Thank you very much

      Hi Gioele,

Where and what displacement have you applied?

        Hello,

I applied a face shift that I had set as fixed supports, specifically the shift is 5 meters in 0.1 seconds. I would therefore expect to see a residual vibration given by this acceleration, but this does not happen and I do not understand why.

        Thank you for your reply

      Hi Gioele,

Are you applying the displacement to the fixed support surfaces of modal analysis?

        Hi Ankush,
yes I applied it to the same point, but even by changing the point of application the analysis does not produce any movements.
my idea was to move a part of the body that must be rigid and see the vibrations in the other parts of the body.
        Thank you for your answer

      Hi Gioele,

If you apply the displacement to fixed supports, then it will only give zero displacement as those faces are already fixed in the modal analysis. You may give displacement at some other surface or try to apply an acceleration load.

      Hi Gioele,

Another option is to try to run full transient analysis instead of MSUP, and then apply the required displacement to the body.
