Hello everyone
I'm stucked in the calculation fo the core losses in the transient solver of ansys maxwell (magnetic). In order to solve the problem, I create a simple toroidal core with M19_ 29G material.Â
After run the simulation, i plot the losses in the core and the results are shown as:
As shown, i plot the total core losses and individual losses (electric steel losses used) and i'm stucked nearly two weeks trying to reproduce the curves using the value fo the fields. Because the geometry, the magnetic field in the toroid is nearly homogeneus. Then, is easy to obtain the field in the time domain in the toroid core as plotted in the next figure
As stated in some other answers in this forum, i use the paper: "A dynamic Core Loss Model for Soft Ferromagnetic and Power Ferrite Materials in Transient Finite Element Analysis" in order to obtain the plots of the losses. I use the equations of that paper but unfurtunately i'm unable to obtain the same curves of losses obtained in maxwell.
The dynamic (time domain) hysteresis losses is calculated using:Â abs(H * dB/dt)Â (with beta = 2) but i cant reproduce the same curve obtained in maxwell. I had the same problems for other curves like the equation for the eddy losses 1/(2*pi)*Kc*[dB/dt]^2ÂIs ansys maxwell using another type of calculation or reference for the losses in the transient solver?
Â
Thanks for your time
Blessings

Hello R_Caicedo,
Maxwell uses the above reference paper for the core loss calculation.
I am not sure how you do calculate dB and dH to calculate the core loss, but it is a very complicated process, that include shape functions, XYZ B and H component calculations, etc.Â
