thin layer of solid element penetration problem

      I have created a very thin layer of coating over the machine tool using element generation of solid face offset with several elements acrosss thickness, which gave only pentahedron element. i have established contact between coating layer and the workpiece. also i used constraint rigid bodies to make sure tool and coat travels together.

      but the metal cutting is not happeneing (like contact between uncoated tool and workpiece in past). the coating layer just penetrates even though i established contact. i dont know what to change in my contact card to make such thin micrometer layer visible for contact detection.

      the goal would be updating the geometry using wear analysis. kindly anyone suggest me a way to solve this problem,

      Have you checked the contact condition using LSPP before submitting the input file to the solver and can you also share your contact card that you used?  there's not a lot of information here for others to troubleshoot.
