SubscriberI use a taper structure to simulate a mode convertion from mode6 in port1 to mode6 in port2, it is the TE2 mode converting to TM3 mode. However, when I sweep the length of the taper in EME. I found the S parameters have a vertical decrease. And the optical field seems like the light stop propagating. It is weird. I can see the mode conversion is there, but I am confused about the results. I have changed the Cell number but it made no sense.

Ansys EmployeePlease make sure you plot abs(S) or abs(S)^2.
From the profile monitor, it seems the fields are strongly discontinuous. Please check the overlap and power quantities in the later part, and check if the desired modes exist. You may need to modify the number of modes or groups or number of cells. make sure the port size is proper to capture the modes without truncation.

SubscriberIt comes to the right result after I increase the mode number in each cell. Really appreciate for your help!
