The HFSS license is not released after the calculation.

      Hi,

I have a problem with the license for HFSS, when I put several calculation tasks in queue, it solves the first task, but for the next task in the queue it gives an error:

After this error in ANSYS License Manager it shows that all licenses are busy, although no calculations are running at the time.

It is (as far as I see) not the case if the next task is started manually (without putting it in to queue) after the theprevious calculation is finished.

      What could be the reason?

      Thanks in advance.

      Hi Dr Podoba,

This is a known issue with AnsysEM 2022R2.
Defect TFS 683937 was created to address the license release failures; when queuing interactive jobs.
The issue will be addressed in the 2023R1 release.
Additionally, there are plans to release a 2022R2.3 patch in the comming weeks.
The workaround until that point is to not queue your interactive submissions.

      thanks
      Randy

      Hi,

I have installed the patch (ANSYS_2022R2.03_WINX64)

but the problem is still occurs as described, despite the fact that the problem is listed in "Issues Addressed" in the patch documentation.

is there anything I should pay my attention to in settings or during the patch installation?

      thanks,

      Yuriy.

      Hi Yuriy,
I just tested with 2022R2.3 and functionallity was as expected.

I had started the analysis on one project and queued the second behind it.
      As you can see below

--> Open AEDT and projects in GUI
      13:00:42 (lmgrd) TIMESTAMP 11/9/2022
      13:02:55 (ansyslmd) OUT: "electronics_desktop" username@usermachine  [18820]
      13:03:47 (ansyslmd) OUT: "electronics3d_gui" username@usermachine  [11040]
      13:03:49 (ansyslmd) IN: "electronics3d_gui" username@usermachine  [11040]
      13:03:51 (ansyslmd) OUT: "electronics3d_gui" username@usermachine  [18820]

-> Start analysis (while running, queued second analysis)
      13:08:56 (ansyslmd) OUT: "elec_solve_hfss" username@usermachine  [26892]
      13:08:56 (ansyslmd) OUT: "elec_solve_level2" username@usermachine  [26892]
      13:08:57 (ansyslmd) OUT: "elec_solve_level1" username@usermachine  [26892]
      13:08:57 (ansyslmd) OUT: "anshpc" username@usermachine  [26892] (6 licenses)
-> First analysis completes and licensing returned
      13:10:54 (ansyslmd) IN: "elec_solve_hfss" username@usermachine  [26892]
      13:10:54 (ansyslmd) IN: "elec_solve_level2" username@usermachine  [26892]
      13:10:54 (ansyslmd) IN: "elec_solve_level1" username@usermachine  [26892]
      13:10:54 (ansyslmd) IN: "anshpc" username@usermachine  [26892] (6 licenses)

-> Second analysis starts and licensing out
      13:10:56 (ansyslmd) OUT: "elec_solve_hfss" username@usermachine  [29944]
      13:10:57 (ansyslmd) OUT: "elec_solve_level2" username@usermachine  [29944]
      13:10:57 (ansyslmd) OUT: "elec_solve_level1" username@usermachine  [29944]
      13:10:57 (ansyslmd) OUT: "anshpc" username@usermachine  [29944] (6 licenses)

->Second analysis completes and licensing returns
      13:12:48 (ansyslmd) IN: "elec_solve_hfss" username@usermachine  [29944]
      13:12:48 (ansyslmd) IN: "elec_solve_level2" username@usermachine  [29944]
      13:12:48 (ansyslmd) IN: "elec_solve_level1" username@usermachine  [29944]
      13:12:48 (ansyslmd) IN: "anshpc" username@usermachine  [29944] (6 licenses)

      Are you seeing different behavior?
Can you share a snippet of the license log -- replace the username and machinename as I have done?
Confirm AEDT 2022 R2.3 is listed at top left of AEDT Desktop?

      thanks
      Randy

      Here what i see:

      17:20:36 (ansyslmd) OUT: "electronics3d_gui" username@usermachine  [16772]
      17:20:57 (ansyslmd) OUT: "elec_solve_hfss" username@usermachine  [18580]
      17:20:57 (ansyslmd) OUT: "elec_solve_level2" username@usermachine  [18580]
      17:20:57 (ansyslmd) OUT: "elec_solve_level1" username@usermachine  [18580]
      17:20:57 (ansyslmd) OUT: "anshpc" username@usermachine  [18580] (4 licenses)
17:21:37 (ansyslmd) DENIED: "elec_solve_hfss" username@usermachine  [2980] (Licensed number of users already reached. (-4,342))
17:21:39 (ansyslmd) DENIED: "elec_solve_hfss" username@usermachine  [4860] (Licensed number of users already reached. (-4,342))

But i cannot confirm that AEDT 2022 R2.3 is listed at top left of AEDT Desktop:

      I see only R2

Please pay attantion that in the description of the ANSYS_2022R2.03_WINX64.zip

in the download center it is listed:

"• Desktop: -waitforlicense now behaves correctly and will wait for unavailable licenses to become
      available during -batchsolve
      • Desktop: Enabling Queue All Simulations will now check out the correct licenses during queued
      simulations."

Which are actually included in ELECTRONICS_2022R2_WINX64.zip and cannot be corrected by installing ANSYS_2022R2.03_WINX64.zip.

You would install the ELECTRONICS_2022R2.03_WINX64.zip  patch for Ansys Electronics 2022R2
