temperature dependent coefficient of thermal expansion value

      Hello,

I have the temperature dependent CTE values varying from 22°C to 180°C, now suppose I want to give thermal BC of -40°C, what would  be the value of CTE in this case and how Ansys workbench Considers this.

      Thanks in advance

      Best Regards

      Praveen

      Hello Praveen,

Ansys Workbench will use the CTE value that is closest to -14 C (i.e. the CTE for 22 C) in this case. However, be sure to understand the difference between secant CTE and instantaneous CTE while defining the material properties. See Section 2.1.3 in: https://ansyshelp.ansys.com/account/secured?returnurl=/Views/Secured/corp/v201/en/ans_thry/thy_str1.html%23structempdep
